This program is housed within the Agriculture and Natural Resources department. This is an Associate of Science transfer degree designed to transfer to regional plant science, crop science, and horticulture for-year programs while providing students with the technical skills for employment in regional crop, seed, and horticulture industries.

Program/Discipline Outcomes

  • Explain the economic and environmental importance of crop plants regionally, nationally, and globally.
  • Define anatomical functions and major growth processes in plants.
  • Grow and propagate agronomic and horticultural crop plants in both field and greenhouse settings.
  • Describe soil physical, chemical, and biological processes in relation to plant production.
  • Apply Integrated Pest Management principles to control pests, diseases, and weeds in crop production.
  • Manage agronomic and horticultural crop production from seed to marketing.
